Black PhD Network UK

At the Free Black University, we are committed to community care. We recognise that a PhD can be one of the most isolating and mentally arduous experiences for any student, and when you are a Black student this only intensifies. We want to build a community amongst Black PhD students across the UK to acknowledge their specific barriers, and to offer a space of collective care, healing, and strategising. The Academy is a sight of violence, and Black PhD students often find themselves on the frontlines of this violence. We commit to offering a unique space in which Black PhD students can collaborate and community build. We are all part of the same struggle, but we scarcely are able to connect in meaningful and intentional ways. If you are a Black PhD student in the UK, or a recent post-doc, please fill in the form below to be added to our mailing list and get information about the events we will hold throughout the year to support Black PhD’s across the country.
